What do Slytherin’s Eat?

Just so you know, we may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post. We have a full affiliate disclosure that you can find under here. I am not a doctor, lawyer, psychiatrist, therapist, or your mother, and I don’t play one on the internet. NO information on this site should be used to diagnose, treat, prevent or cure any disease or condition.

While watching Harry Potter for the billionth time, I started to wonder what do Slytherin’s eat? I mean, not just Slytherins but also the students from the other houses. I wondered if they would choose food items based on their house traits and house colors.

Since I am a food slinger/blogger and obsessed Harry Potter fan (seriously, I have watched the movies/listened to the audio books a billion times!), I decided to write about what I think each house would choose to eat and wondered if their food choices would be influenced by their “houses” and their tastes. I truly think they would be.

Grab your quill, ink, and some parchment so you can make notes about your favorite Epicure products to try later!

What Makes up a Slytherin?

I think before we really get into our food choices, we need to first get a good handle on what traits make up a Slytherin and the Slytherin house colors.

In regards to traits, Slytherins are known for their cunning, shrewdness, and ambition. So when you imagine those traits, what comes to mind (besides a Slytherin)? Like what kinds of jobs, mannerisms, etc.

For me, I think of hoity-toity people, lol. Seriously! I’m not trying to provoke you, I realize that not all Slytherin’s come from money. I mean, look at Tom Riddle’s wizard family. Marvolo was a complete loser living in filth. BUT, his “ideals” made him hoity-toity! He was THE biggest snob out there. If you weren’t Slytherin, you were scum. If you weren’t a puree blud, you were scum. Morfin was worse since he hexed before he spoke. Nice family, huh…..

Even Prof. Slughorn, who was definitely not outwardly snobbish, had his own beliefs. He coveted those who could be famous, especially if he could ingratiate himself in the process. He had his own version of hoity-toity.

As for Slytherin’s colors, we all know they are green and silver. I’m pretty sure the Malfoy’s eat off of silver everything, they have the wealth for it.

What do Slytherin’s Snack On?

I think that while the students are sitting in their common room, plotting to stamp out muggles, they would want snacks that were “better” than everyone else’s. They would totally make the school house-elves create something elaborate, but as most of us do not have house elves or servants, I chose something any muggle could make.

I think a charcuterie platter comprised of grapes (green of course!), homemade cheese (they are hoity-toity so no store-bought would be sufficient – but I think brie and Havarti would be nice), fresh meats like prosciutto and salami, freshly baked baguettes along with some Epicure Dip Mixes – like Mango Curry, CCB, and Lemon Dilly. We can’t forget about the mustard either! I think Epicure’s Honey Mustard or Sweet & Spicy Mustard would go nicely as well. For veggies, I think watermelon radishes (they are fancy!), and young rainbow carrots would pair well with everything else.

What do Slytherin’s Eat for Dinner?

I think they would want something fancy, personally. Something that looks like it took hours and hours to make but really didn’t. I really doubt the “average” Slytherin would put in the time it would take to make a truly fancy meal all on their own.

What do Slytherin's Eat?

I think they would like Sheet Pan Caprese Chicken with Rosemary Garlicrisotto (follow traditional recipe and season with the Rosemary Garlic) and a side salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette.

This dish has tons of flavor, the look of a lot of fuss without really taking a lot of skill. Risotto can be a bit fussy and time consuming so you could easily substitute Rosemary Garlic roasted potatoes. Makes it even easier!!

What do Slytherin’s Eat for Dessert?

Continuing with our over the top, hoity-toity theme, I think they would love Epicure’s Cocoa Crunch Pudding Tarts. They look impressive, but with the benefit of not being difficult to make! You could even top them with whipped Caramel Sauce Mix which would take this dessert to the next level!
