A Gluten Free Thanksgiving

Just so you know, we may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post. We have a full affiliate disclosure that you can find under here. I am not a doctor, lawyer, psychiatrist, therapist, or your mother, and I don’t play one on the internet. NO information on this site should be used to diagnose, treat, prevent or cure any disease or condition.

The leaves are changing, the weather is finally cooling off, and Fall is officially here! I don’t know about you, but I love Fall! With Fall comes Thanksgiving and all the yummy food! However, making A Gluten Free Thanksgiving meal can be a little tricky. This is our second year with the diagnosis, but first-year cooking.

A Gluten Free Thanksgiving

I love seeing the leaves change color (I miss that as I live in Las Vegas and not much of that here) and having the weather cool off. I love the heat of our summers, but after a time you are just ready for a change! The other reason I love Fall is Thanksgiving! I am ALL about the food, family gatherings, and the turkey coma, lol. Di

Our first-year post Celiac Diagnosis we were on vacation and had Thanksgiving dinner at The Three Broomsticks at Universal Studios in California, and it was AMAZING!!! However, I actually do love to cook, especially Thanksgiving dinner! I make all our favorites: turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, and the pièce de résistance – pumpkin pie (a family favorite)!

Making a gluten-free Thanksgiving can be stressful, but it doesn’t have to be. I have created a series of posts that highlight gluten-free brands to help relieve the stress of making your Thanksgiving dinner. Just click on the highlighted links below to get recommendations on each of the different dishes I will be making this year.

Thanksgiving Dishes

Turkey

Turkey is obviously the star of the show. We are only a family of four but I normally buy as big of a turkey as I can find, around 20-22 pounds, lol. I baste it every 30 minutes until is perfectly golden brown and juicy! With the leftovers, I make homemade turkey pot pie or use the turkey to make enchiladas. We love having fresh cranberry salsa with our turkey! How do you like yours?

Stuffing

To stuff the turkey or not to stuff the turkey; that is the question. When I first started cooking Thanksgiving dinner, I didn’t stuff the turkey because, honestly, I didn’t like it. However, my sister taught me how to make an amazing sausage stuffing that is to die for so I am now team Stuff, lol. I normally buy a seasoned stuffing mix and then tweak it so I will be on the hunt for new kind this year. I could make my own; however, I don’t have the time (more like the patience) to make my own. Are you team stuff or team no stuff?

Green Bean Casserole

I don’t know why, but I love green bean casserole. My husband does as well, however, our kids – not so much, lol. Guess what? I make them eat anyway because I am cool like that, lol. Basically, I tell them no casserole, no pie. A bit evil, but it works, lol. This dish is the one I am most concerned about because I need to find GF french onions and cream of mushroom soup – both things I haven’t had to look for yet. What vegetable to have at with your Thanksgiving dinner?

Pumpkin Pie

Now, the best dish E. V. E. R.!!! Pumpkin pie is my all time favorite, and my families favorite. Now I have a bit of a confession to make. I never make homemade crusts, like EVER!!! Before our daughter’s diagnosis, I was team Pillsbury refrigerated crusts (don’t hate me). I love to bake but never got into making my own crust. I have found a few GF refrigerated crusts, but want to look for others this year. Yep, still lazy, but love pie. What’s a girl to do, lol? What is your favorite Thanksgiving dessert?

I am so excited for this series!! It’s the start of my favorite time of year and I get to share some of my favorites with you! Like most things, the idea for these posts just “popped” into my head. I had planned on waiting to share them next year, but my excitement said “nope, do it now” so now is when they will roll out. Pictures of the dishes will be posted on my Facebook Page as I make them so make sure to like and follow my page!

If you prefer to cook from scratch instead of semi-homemade (my normal go to), I have pinned some recipes for your convenience!

Hey girl! This post came up in my Pinterest feed, and I had to read it of course, I didn’t know you were blogging. Anyways, I wanted to tell you liveGfree makes a gluten free French fried onion, can’t have green beans on Thanksgiving without those babies, lol.

I saw that they did, but I’m not sure if any place here locally carries them. I was fortunate enough to find the Sprouts brand. I have read the Aldi carries the liveGfree, but sadly we do not have an Aldis near us. I hope you are doing well, we really need to catch up!
