Yes, Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, but in all honesty, 5 Easy Date Night Dinners came about more from lack of dining out options but still wanting to have date night, lol. Don’t get me wrong, we can dine out, but the logistics can be difficult, especially if it is last minute.
I know for my husband and I, we try to plan but that has a tendency to go wrong for some reason, like something always comes up unexpectedly. We don’t mind, but when you are trying to make reservations at the last minute, that doesn’t really work very well.
Easy Meals for 2+
Disclaimer info here, yes these recipes are all for four servings or more, but you can easily halve the recipes or save the leftovers for lunch later in the week. I mean, if you are already cooking, why not have a little extra to help you out later in the week!
Another disclaimer, if you don’t like the recommended protein or veggies for the recipe but like the base, feel free to change it up. Epicure’s recipes are awesome like that, they are truly more of a guide! Don’t like shrimp, no problem – substitute chicken or salmon. Don’t like cooked spinach, substitute in broccolini. Basically, substitute the items you and your partner like!
5 Easy Date Night Dinners
Without further ado, let’s get down to the fun stuff, yummy food! I did a little research to find some yummy but also easy date night dinners because let’s face it, you are still at home making your own meal so why make it complicated (unless you like that kind of cooking).
Easy Date Night Dinners – Shrimp Alfredo
I absolutely love Shrimp Alfredo, however my husband does not. So why did I pick this, um hello, I said I loved it and I’m the one doing the cooking, lol. But in all seriousness, I would totally add some chicken to this as well so we both could get what we wanted! I would also add a few extra shakes of black pepper as I know that is how we both like our Alfredo, with a little something extra in the spice department!
I would serve it with a nice side salad or if you wanted to you could totally add some broccolini or kale into the dish and it would be super yummy as well. Either way, you are getting more of a complete meal with out having to do a lot of extra work. You know, grab a bag salad mix, make your life easier – it’s date night, why not!
Easy Date Night Dinners – Flat Bread Pizza
I love flatbread pizza because it’s like making your own individualized pizza’s without having to make a bunch of different crusts! If your partner is a big eater and needs something larger than a flatbread, find an already made crust to save you time. It’s basically the same thing.
I would totally make this Chicken Fajita Flatbread as we like our food spicy so I would totally add some jalapeños on there too. I would serve with a side of guac too, because let’s face it, guacamole is freaking awesome and who doesn’t like guacamole and chips, lol.
There are quite a few different flatbread pizza ideas on Epicure, so be sure to check them out, but also, feel free to experiment or wing it as I like to say, lol.
Easy Date Night Dinners – Ragu
Ok, you guessed it, I love this too. There is a reason why I am in the food slinging business, I love food, enjoy cooking, and yes, I love to try new foods all the time. A good ragu sauce can go a long way and it is something you can make a head of time in a large batch and then thaw when you want to have it.
Everyone has their preferred pasta preference, for my husband it is penne. For me, I truly don’t care so I would serve this over penne because I know my husband like’s it. It would be great over linguine, bow tie, or even spaghetti pasta.
This Beef Ragu is easy to make and the only thing I would adjust on the recipe is to add crushed red pepper because we like our red sauce to be spicy. To make this a complete meal, I would add a side salad because it’s easy and like I mentioned earlier, I can by a pre-prepped one at the store to save me some time.
Easy Date Night Dinners – Caprese Chicken
We lived in Italy for four years and really became fond of caprese. A true caprese salad is comprised of buffalo mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil leaves drizzled with some really good balsamic vinegar. So imagine those flavors on chicken, are you drooling yet? If you aren’t, you should be!
This is a great date night dinner because it looks super fancy, but it isn’t, it’s really easy to make! We recently made the Sheet Pan Caprese Chicken for dinner the other night and it was a total hit!
Since you are already doing a sheet pan meal, to make this a complete meal, I would serve this with roasted veggies and potatoes and then drizzles those with some really good balsamic as well when done. For the veggies, I think I would do cherry tomatoes, broccoli, and maybe some Brussel sprouts along with some baby red potatoes.
Easy Date Night Dinners – Glazed Salmon Bowl
Ok, this one may be a bit of a stretch for some partners. My husband being one of them, lol. He likes sushi salmon and tolerates it cooked when I make it, lol. I would also not serve this in a bowl, but on a plate, but that’s me.
I know some spouses balk at the idea of a salad as the main dish for dinner, but we do it at least once a week and you can still make it a hearty meal. I would also have to swap out the goat cheese (even though it is super yummy) for a different cheese, maybe parmesan or reggiano.
I know it sounds like a lot of modifying, but it really isn’t, it’s just some minor tweaks. The Balsamic Glazed Salmon Salad Bowl has a great base of flavors. I would serve it with some fresh crusty bread instead of rice because we love us some fresh crusty bread!!!
Ok, I had to throw in an easy dessert because we always order dessert when we go out for date night. I chose this Berry Dessert Bowl because it looks fancy but it isn’t. You could even do a caramel and chocolate pudding layers with layers of berries if you were really feeling decadent!
