10 Magical and Delicious Potions for you to try while you sit outside and enjoy the nice weather. I love sitting in our backyard, around our fire table (when it’s under 90 degrees in Vegas), and enjoying an adult beverage (or two, lol).
I have found 10 magical and delicious potions for you to try (there are even some non-alcohol ones), but before we get to those, we first need to talk about simple syrups!
How to Make a Simple Syrup
A simple syrup is normally just a combination of sugar and water; however, you can also make flavored simple syrups – which is what we will be using for many of our magical potions.
You will need 1 cup of sugar, 2 cups of water, and 4 bags of your favorite Epicure Tea (some of my favorites are Epicure’s Blue Butterfly Tea and Hibiscus Bliss).
You will need to whisk 1 cup of sugar and 2 cups of water together in a pot. Then add the 4 tea bags and simmer over medium heat until reduced by about half – think the consistency of syrup. You can check this by seeing how it coats the back of a spoon. When ready, strain and refrigerate in a cruet for up to 10 days until ready to serve.
What Makes these Potions Magical?
What I find magical about the 10 Magical and Delicious Potions is that that many of them are under 110 calories (the adult beverage ones)!! That right there is definitely magical!
Also, there are options for kids or those who don’t drink and that’s pretty magical as well.
10 Magical and Delicious Potions

#1 Sleeping Beauty Tonic
What a perfect drink to unwind with at the end of the day! I personally love the Sleeping Beauty Tea on its own so if you do not drink, then that is an option as well. You could also make the drink and just omit the alcohol altogether.
This recipe is for two so if you only need half, just modify the recipe.

#2 Sencha & Jasmine Green Tea Mojito
Nothing says summer like mojitos!! I love the refreshing flavors of lime and mint! I will add that the Sencha & Jasmine Green Tea does contain caffeine so if you are sensitive to caffeine you might want to try using a non-caffeinated tea.

#3 Golden Hot Toddy
You are probably wondering why I added a hot toddy to the list. Well, sometimes summer nights are cooler than you anticipate or your inside in the air conditioning and want something to warm you up!
The Golden Hot Toddy uses Epicure’s Gold Milk Herbal Tea as a base and will definitely make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside with notes of cinnamon, maple syrup, and orange!

#4 Summer Berry Sangria
This is another one that could easily be made non-alcoholic if desired and be more of a berry punch instead of sangria.
Make Summer Berry simple syrup (see above for directions on a basic simple syrup) and instead of tea bags, add 3Tbs of Epicure’s Summer Berry Dip Mix. When done, pour into a cruet, and chill until ready to use.
Choose your favorite white or red wine (I normally use a blackberry wine as a base for my red sangrias). Poor into your pitcher, add one can of club soda (got to have some bubbles!!), add your simple syrup, and 2 cups of fresh berries (you can use frozen too). Stir and serve.
To make non-alcoholic, omit the wine and try to find a 100% berry juice or combine some juices to get the flavor you are looking for.
I personally love the combo of citrus and berries, so possibly add some orange or lime slices depending not he flavors you are looking for.

#5 Mango Lassi
Mango Lassi is a great one for those who do not drink alcohol or for the kids to have on those warm summer nights! The great thing about this drink is that you can play with the flavors a bit if you want AND you can make it dairy-free as well!
Maybe add half of the frozen mango and the other half pineapple or orange. Use coconut milk instead of dairy and you will have a great tropical beverage. Just pop one of those little umbrellas in it, add a fancy straw and you (or your kiddo) will have an awesome beach worthy beverage!

#6 Summer Berry Lemonade
I can’t wait to try this at our next BBQ! It’s perfect for all ages and super easy to make! Epicure’s Summer Berry Sweet Dip Mix is so versatile!
Ingredients: 8 cups of water, 3 Tbs Epicure’s Summer Berry Sweet Dip Mix, 1.5 cups of sugar (I would probably try making this with less sugar, but this is what is recommended), and 1.5 cups of fresh-squeezed lemon juice (approximately 9 lemons).
Directions: in an 8 cup multi-pot bring 1 cup of water, 3 Tbs of Epicure Summer Berry Sweet Dip Mix and 1.5 cups of sugar to a boil (stir occasionally).
Remove from heat, transfer to a cruet and chill (basically making a simple syrup).
In a juice pitcher, use Epicure’s Citrus Press to squeeze your lemons for the 1.5 cups of fresh lemon juice.
Add contents of the cruet and 7 cups of water to the freshly squeezed lemon juice. Stir and enjoy over ice.
You can add fresh fruit as a garnish, like strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries.

#7 Sleeping Beauty Slushies
I love the name, Sleeping Beauty! If you have a little girl and she is into Disney, this would be perfect! You could have a “girls” night and make Sleeping Beauty Slushies as a treat. It would make a very magical memory!
You and/or your kids will love this one! You could easily make this as the recipe indicates and then add vodka, gin, or rum to it if you wanted it to have a bit of a kick to it. You can also swap out the watermelon if it isn’t your favorite. I would recommend strawberries (most kids like strawberries).

#8 Refreshing Black & Blue G&T
The recipe for the Refreshing Black & Blue gin and tonic is in Epicure’s Summer Strong Collection Cookbook. It’s a combination of simple syrup, gin, tonic water, muddled blackberries & mint, and garnished with lemon slices.
You could easily change up the fruit if blackberries aren’t your thing. May try strawberries, blueberries or raspberries.

#9 Magical Margarita
The recipe for the Magical Margarita is in Epicure’s Summer Strong Collection Cookbook. It’s a combination of tequila (of course!), club soda, lime juice and simple syrup.
It’s magical because it uses the Blue Butterfly Tea which changes colors when citrus is added to it. Perfect for those magical nights sitting outside watching shooting stars or lightning bugs.

#10 Turmeric & Ginger Elixir
You are probably thinking I have gone off the rails with this one, but hear me out! I know turmeric and ginger can be a bit strong, but it is also very good for you. I was skeptical at first as well since I am not a huge fan of ginger.
I was pleasantly surprised when I tried Epicure’s Turmeric & Ginger Blend Herbal Tea. The Turmeric & Ginger Elixir will definitely have a strong flavor, so if you are not into that, you might want to pass on this one. The elixir is made with kombucha (I would opt for berry flavored) and pass on some of the garnishes (candied ginger and mint) because I feel it would be too overpowering for me, but that is me.
